Bolso y bufanda de verano

Para no hacer muy largo la anterior entrada, os pongo aquí con algo más de detalle los dos regalos que le hice a mi hermana:  el bolso y la bufanda de verano.

El bolso.

En el mes de septiembre compré unas cuantas telas muy graciosas.  Esta fué una de ellas:

Las telas son las que se utilizan en los vestidos tradicionales de gitana o de flamenca.  Las dos me gustan mucho.  Con la turquesa ya tenía planeado que quería hacer este bolso del libro de Tilda:

En octubre hice un bolso como regalo de cumpleaños para mi madre.  Creo que para ser el primero que hacía y la primera vez que manejaba mi máquina de coser, no salió nada mal, y de hecho quedé muy contenta con el resultado.



Cuando estuve en Londres y en Bath en noviembre, encontré estas asas, una de ellas de bambú, y por supuesto no me pude resistir a comprarlas.  Me resulta bastante complicado encontrar asas para bolsos aquí en Málaga y si hay algo no hay mucha variedad. 



El viernes por la tarde hice el bolso.  Lo primero que hice fué estrenar la base de corte y el cutter para telas que me regalaron por Reyes.  Me ha encantado utilizar el cutter, qué bien corta, con que rapidez y lo más importante es que no desilacha la tela.  Puse la tela doble encima de la base de corte, la cartulina que tengo de patrón y pasé el cutter por alrededor y listo.  Perfecto.

Después de cortar la tela y el forro, saqué mi máquina de coser.  Hacía tiempo que no la utilizaba, creo que desde antes de navidad, y tuve que hacer una pequeña prueba con una tela para ver que tal me manejaba.  Es la primera máquina de coser que tengo y que manejo, y en total creo que la he utilizado en tres ocasiones (esta incluída). 

Todavía tengo que practicar más pero estoy supercontenta con ella.  Es comodísima y muy rápido trabajar con ella.  Un poco tiempo tenía cosido el forro y la tela juntos.

Después llegó el dilema de las asas de bambú.  Desconozco si se pueden lavar/mojar o no.  Así que decidí ponerlas de tal manera que se pudiesen quitar y poner para así poder lavar el bolso sin problemas.  Las telas que he usado son las dos muy resistentes y se lavan sin ningún tipo de problemas. 

Esta fué la solución que ví mejor para que las asas de bambú se puediesen poner y quitar:



Probablemente un velcro hubiese quedado muy bien, pero esto era lo que tenía en mi caja de costura.  Fué lo que más tiempo me llevó de todo el proceso. 

Y aquí está el bolso terminado. 



Como creo que ya he dicho, estoy muy contenta con el bolso, bueno con los dos bolsos que he hecho, el de mi madre y este de mi hermana.  Ya sólo me queda hacerme uno a mí.



En cuanto a la bufanda veraniega, hace un mes más o menos fuí a por lanas y me traje tres de hilo rosa con un poquito de brillo.

Las madejas son Katia - Brisa.  Para trabajar no son las más cómodas porque se abrén mucho y no son por supuesto tan suaves como una lana.  Pero creo que para el verano van bien.  Me ha sobrado una madeja casi entera y le he dicho a mi hermana que si prefería la bufanda algo más larga que no había problema.

Es una pena que la foto no haya salido mejor.  Es de ayer noche, cuando terminé por fín la bufanda y la luz no era nada buena, probé con el flash de la cámara y al ser el fondo blanco la foto salía bastante peor.  Es el mismo cuadradito repetido.  El dibujo que he seguido no tenía mucha complicación y es bastante rápido de hacer.

Hoy cuando le he dado la bufanda hemos estado viendo si había que alargarla más porque como ya he dicho todavía me queda hilo, pero al final hemos decidido que no, que así está bien.

Well, here they are, the bag and the scarf.

I have the idea of making this bag since I saw it in one of Tilda's book.  In september I bought the fabric and in December I found the bambu handles in Bath (England).  The fabric is the one used for the traditional flamenca dress.  I love it.

In October I tried making the bag following the instructions in the book.  They were hard to follow and not because of the english.  I also used my new sewing machine for the first time.  All in all, I was quite happy with the bag and it was the gift for my mother's birthday. 

Last week I was thinking what I could give to my sister for her birthday.  I was already working on the scarf but I thought I could do something else as well.  On Friday I decided to make this bag.

I have used the cutting board and the cutter for fabric for the first time.  My mother gave them as Christmas gifts, but until now I haven't been able to try them.  I was really impressed with them. I like how the cutter cut the fabric, fast and clean.  Just perfect.  Before sewing with my sewing machine I had to make a try first because this was probably the third time I've ever used it.  Again, I must say that I was happy, it is easy enough that I sew everything together in no time at all.  Anyway I know I have to practice more with it and I hope it can be soon.

When I was going to sew the fabric around the handles I stopt to think if that was going to work OK.  I know one can wash the fabrics without a problem but I don't know if you can wash the handles.  So in the end I decided to do it like in the photograph. I took me some time to sew everything but I think it solves the problem.

I must say I am very happy with the result.  Next bag it will be for me.

The scarf was the other gift.  I have begun it a month or so ago.  Truth is that I haven't worked much with it, only now and them until last week.  The yarn is Katia - Brisa and it is rose.  It is not the easiest yarn to work with because it splits a lot and it is not very soft as well, but for summer it is OK, and the colour is one I knew my sister would like.  I followed a very easy pattern and it wasn't that much work.  I still have some yarn left and I told my sister that if she wanted the scarf longer I could make it so.  But after trying it today, (the person is my sister) we decided it was well like that.  It is a pity the first photo of the scarf is not better, but I finished it yesterday night and couldn't find light good enough for the picture.
